Po Nagar Tower is one of the most important and ancient Cham architectural complexes still existing in Vietnam, built between the 8th and 13th centuries. The site is located on Cu Lao hill, next to the Cai River estuary, overlooking Nha Trang sea – a sacred location according to the beliefs of the ancient Cham people.
The complex is dedicated to the goddess Po Nagar (Thien Y A Na Holy Mother), considered the creator of the land and trees and the protector of the people's lives. Initially, the structure was built entirely of wood, but later replaced with fired brick architecture using sophisticated construction techniques that remain largely mysterious.
Po Nagar Tower impresses with its towering structures and intricate carvings bearing the distinct mark of Cham art, such as statues of deities, Apsara dancers, mythical creatures, and decorative reliefs. Over the centuries, it has not only been a center of worship for the Cham people but has also been embraced by the Vietnamese community, becoming a shared cultural and spiritual space. Today, Po Nagar Cham Towers is a special national monument and a famous cultural tourist destination in Khanh Hoa province. The Po Nagar Cham Towers Festival is regularly held in the third lunar month of each year, attracting a large number of tourists and locals.
